I have lived and worked as a GP in Shropshire for the past 20 years and enjoy music as a hobby, currently playing principal flute in the Shrewsbury Symphony Orchestra.
As a doctor, I believe I have a professional responsibility for working on as well as in the health system for the benefit of patients. I have therefore been involved in medical leadership and management over the past decade in combination with my clinical work as a GP.
Our NHS is under increasing strain and primarily focuses on the medical aspects of health care. I think more could be done locally to improve wellbeing and resilience, particularly with more vulnerable and isolated members of our community.
During 2013 I decided to start exploring what could be done, using the creative arts, to enable people to cope with what life throws at them in Shropshire.
